09 Dec: Computer Education in Malawi – Teach the Teachers

Our ‘Teach the Teachers’ computers initiative has seen some great progress over the last year. Our volunteers have been teaching basic computer skills to teachers, which has also given them ability to access diverse and up to date information via the internet. This both enhances their teaching and enables the teachers to share ideas and resources with each other.

Naturally Africa Foundation (NAF) is continuing its great charity work in Malawi with the launch of their latest solar light project. Recently purchasing Sun King Eco solar lights, 1350 homes in disadvantaged Malawian communities will literally ‘see’ the benefits in the coming months.

Africa has had a bad rep lately. The media loves to cover war, killing, riots, disease, etc. The world sees death and destruction. But I dare you to challenge our Western notions of such a beautiful continent. I’ve volunteered in Africa three times over the past 7 years, and every time, my heart aches coming home.
