We are pleased to announce that Naturally Africa Foundation is now registered as a charitable trust with the Charity Commission in the UK, number 1137411.
Naturally Africa Foundation will work to raise funds and provide financial support for specific projects that are identified as being charitable and in keeping with the objects of the charity. This is excellent news, as it will make our efforts to alleviate poverty through the projects that you may help with, as a volunteer in Africa, even more effective.
We consider the importance of volunteers at our projects to be the value that they may add in terms of skills, experience, energy and motivation in helping us achieve our objectives. Inevitably there are funding requirements and material costs involved with these volunteer programmes, which can be quite significant in some cases. The support and fundraising efforts of the Naturally Africa Foundation will help to cover some of these and will mean that we can continue to keep the prices of our volunteer projects low.
Many volunteers also wish to fundraise or make donations to the projects that they are involved with. The charitable status of the Foundation will now mean that we have an effective way of managing these donations. We will also be able to claim GiftAid back on eligible donations, hence significantly increasing the value of each donation received.
